How I Use It
This product was used to familiarize students with several different kinds of devices since most are Apple users. In addition, it helped teach about file managers In a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school, OI File Manager is a great tool for collaboration and getting students to communicate and articulate using accountable talk. We used this in order create and easily share content for partner projects and research purposes. File Manager is important in teaching students how to use and respect shared spaces, content and file organization. I used OI File Manager to find and organize lessons, unit plans and project assignment sheets.
This product was time consuming and slightly difficult for most students to use. None of the participating students were familiar with file managers. Initial knowledge took time as students needed to familiarize themselves with setup, navigation and compressing files. After some use and practice, it became easier for students. Multiple file sharing facilitated access and speed. Compression allowed large items to be shared quickly.
