How I Use It
Eight grade students use it to explore the patterns and trends of the periodic table. Students are assigned an element to research and then create a project based on a property of their element. By using this site, students can see what their element looks like, investigate the physical and chemical properties, compare it to similar elements, and research the history behind the discovery of their element. Watching the videos was helpful and engaging but students need to use earphones during class!
Students can click on an element and "see" the element as well as find facts about it. The "build an atom" section allows students to explore how to build an atom with the correct number of protons, neutrons and electrons. The videos offer additional information about elements and the history of the periodic table. Students can learn at their own pace and explore deeper if they want, thus differentiating learning and allowing students to research on their own.
