How I Use It
I use NearPod when I am leading a lesson in my classroom. It brings my lesson to each of the students' computers. They can have a copy of the slides we are looking at right there at their desk. There is no long any issue of students not being able to see the board based on where they sit in the classroom. It also has features, (in the gold package) that allow you to receive feedback about your students understanding, including: quizzes, polls, drawings, and free response. The best part? I control what portion of the presentation the kids are viewing at any one moment. When I advance my screen, it advances theirs, and they cannot move ahead.
There are pre-made lessons inside NearPod that you can use with your students, (not all are free) but once you save a free one, or pay for a lesson, you can add more content to fit your needs.
I love love LOVE NearPod. It has every student engaged 100% of the time. The only negative I have about NearPod, is that it is difficult to create engaging lessons on your own within the NearPod product. What I do is, I create my lessons inside PowerPoint, and make them as flashy and dynamic as I want, and then I save them as a JPEG and then upload them into NearPod as an Image. Then I just add the slides with the polls and questions as I need to.
