How I Use It
I used this product in teaching middle school special education students in a learning support classroom in a direct/small group setting. This worked because it was a great engagement factor for students. When working with their own laptop or Ipad this is great for motivation but, Nearpod is also a great motivator. I think that the "hook" or start of my lessons worked well because students students knew when I was speaking they needed to pay attention to their screen because there will be an assessment of some sort embedded within approaching. The "pay attention' factor is key with Nearpod. This is why I love this tool! I think that what didn't work as well for me was the free portion of the 50mb download factor. Space in your library is certainly an issue if you want to keep your presentations and use Nearpod! This is why I upgraded!
My overall opinion on this teaching tool is that it's great and its worth it. I know teachers are always spending money on things for their classroom, but this is one of those tools you will use all the time. It's also easy for you to upload prior power points and embed assessments. This can certainly serve students fresh and technology based learning experiences. If you're looking to integrate something that you will continue to use, this is your tool!
