How I Use It
I use it primarily for students who require more practice with their fact fluency. By grade six students need to be quick with the basic facts and this is a fun and engaging way to practice. I also use it in stations at the beginning of our math class as a warm-up, it's fun way to put the math concepts front and centre in their minds. I would like to see the developers have a way to remember students (maybe a sign up) and to develop more levels, students really enjoy it but when they've completed all the levels its done.
This is a great app for a variety of reasons; it is engaging, kids love to play and it sustains their interest, it has many levels including negative numbers, and even though they are having fun they are practicing their fact fluency. I wish there was a way to record what student is where in the game, with only 3 iPads in my class, sometimes students lose their place. The game is fast paced but is not simply 'flash cards' in game format, it requires more flexibility in their thinking (finding different ways to find a particular sum).
