How I Use It
I have used this as individual, small group, and full-class math practice. It is most effective when the numbers using the app remain small. Again, it could be that my students are too old, but it failed to ignite the excitement I had hoped for when I used it in my classroom.
For now, I am recommending it to parents as a good review and booster app for their children who need a little extra practice at home.
Jump on the zombie bandwagon, and prepare to be quickly underwhelmed. Although the idea is solid, the lack of variation, limited levels, and no customizability severely limit what could be a staple in the elementary math classroom or home. Is it easy to use? Yes. Is it decent practice? Sure. However, I have found that my students, who may very well be on the upper end of the target audience, were quick to abandon this game because it failed to retain their attention though proper sequences of innovation, challenge, and game play variance (versus, challenge, or group play options are missing). I want this app to be so much more, because it has the potential to be truly special.
