How I Use It
I have used this app in my classroom as a tool to reinforce addition and subtraction. The app had a lot of flexibility of the skills that a student can practice within it. The app has the option to have a 1 minute timer. This was great for students that needed to practice fluency. I like that you don't have to have it timed because some students need just to practice the skill and at that point in their learning the time portion is not as important. I also liked that I could choose what the students were practicing. There are the options to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction, or a random combination of all of the skills. Within each skill you can choose a level. I really like this for fluency with facts and quick practice.
Overall I really like this app. It is fast and easy (no real setup required). It is easy to teach students how to navigate the app and choose the options that I am asking them to use. This is a great alternative to a "mad minute". I like that it reports the students score at the end of the minute and that could be recorded and used as data point to push students to do more! I don't like that there is not the option to show the equation vertically. I have found that when students are adding 2 or 3 digit numbers that it would be helpful to have them vertically. I really like this app as a great way to allow students to practice arithmetic. Overall it is a great app that I would recommend to all elementary school teachers!
