How I Use It
Kids Paint Free is a very simplistic drawing app without much choice or options available. The main drawback for this app is that students cannot choose what color they are drawing with. Instead it cycles through different colors every time you touch the screen. So, if you are wanting to color an area a color you have managed to select and accidentally lift your finger, when you resume coloring the color will be completely different. This can be very frustrating for younger students as they have no control over their colors. You can select pictures from your saved photos to draw over and this can be fun, but again that lack of color choice leads to lack of engagement at best and extreme frustration at worst. Even the very young know to ask for specific colors from the crayon box. When drawing, you have to be sure to move your fingers slowly around the screen - if you move your finger to fast, smooth curves become angled and jagged.
My Take
There are plenty of other drawing apps available to choose from that do offer the ability to choose colors and have many more options than this one. The controls that are available (which are limited) can be difficult to figure out what they do and how they work. Even closing the app can be confusing and took me almost 5 minutes to figure out. The drawing tools are less than limited and the responsiveness of the app itself is spotty at best. Look at other apps for your artistic needs.
