How I Use It
Before I had access to iPads, my students used to create posters and occasionally a Powerpoint presentation on units of study. Now, students use iMovie to create videos of the units of study. I give my students a rubric of required information to include in the movie. Once they find the information, they create their movie in the span of a period. I've also had students take iPads on field trips to document the field trip and show their expertise about one thing they learned during the field trip.
I love iMovie. It is very easy to use and kids can easily create a simple video in a matter of minutes. It really allows for creativity and collaboration when making the videos. Kids are motivated to add their own flair to their movies. Also, because learn in many different ways, they have a much better recall of knowledge from watching their classmate's presentations.
