How I Use It
The Green Screen app by Do Ink is a very simple app to use for creating videos with students in them. I use this app in my social studies and science classes. Instead of doing a PowerPoint or a poster, I have them get into the presentation. For science the students are required to create a poster on an element from the periodic table. By using this tool, they are now able to show videos and images of their elements and be the start of the show.
Having the students be the star, made it more personal and interesting. They have to also write a script for what they want to say and work on their timing. With this project you are hitting science, language, and writing standards. This is a cross curriculum app.
This app is an app that I would recommend for anyone to use. It is a simple app that by just doing a little pre-teaching, the students were able to record each other and create their videos. There isn’t a lot that I don’t like about this app. It would be nice if it was free, but it is a low priced app. You do also need to have a green screen of some sort. I use a cheep green plastic tablecloth.
Being able to see students in their own creation is very rewarding. They also feel a sense of pride because they had to come up with the script, images, editing, and final production. Having an easy to navigate app helps make the lesson run smoothly and the Green Screen App by Do Ink does that.
