How I Use It
I have used Google Earth for all grade levels K-8. I teach social studies and the product can be integrated into almost any lesson. At the holiday time for the little ones we talk about "Birds Eye View," and we follow Santa's flight around the World. The lower grades discuss community and I have students zoom into their neighborhoods and look at the features in their community. Also, I have students learn landforms and what better way then using Google Earth to virtually see real landforms and get a feel for the impact they make on our Earth. These are just a few of the ways I use it. My students are constantly amazing me with the ease in which they have learned to navigate the product independently.
My Take
Google Earth, once loaded on your computer, is a great way for students to see the Earth and the Universe. Not only can they learn about the themes of geography, but it is a way for them to see parts of the World they might never see- virtually.
