Teacher Review for ExitTicket

Powerful web-based assessment tool that is also available as iOS and Android Apps may be too overwhelming for a busy teacher to set up and use.

How I Use It
I would use this product in my teaching in order to check for understand during the lesson. This product is available as a web based tool or as an app. I had planned on using this to check for understanding on a lesson. In creating my assessments, I liked how I could use an editor and even include images in the questions. As a user of Poll Everywhere, I appreciated the possibilities of using images in my quick assessments. I also was looking forward to the data provided by ExitTicket. From what I can gather, the teacher dashboard offers a wealth of information. After playing around with Exit Ticket for a bit, I decided to put it away for a bit. I found it overwhelming and a bit frustrating to get started. Since the product offers some amazing features (images in questions and fantastic use of data), I may return to Exit Ticket to try to learn it at a later date. I skimmed through the instruction manual, but I felt like an instructional video would be more beneficial since the dashboard is so complex.
My Take
When I started using it, I felt like it was overly complicated. I created a practice assessment to learn how to create questions. The creation of question was simple, but then I realized that I would like to use the same questions for all of my class periods. I was unable to assign the same practice assessment to different class periods. I tried another avenue thinking that I had done something wrong, so I created a new assessment, but when I tried to click on my class periods, it told me that I could not assign an assessment to different courses. Thinking that I must have set up the classes wrong, I tried to edit the classes for they are the same course but different periods. I tried to solve the problem. I tried to add another section because I teach five sections and not four. I couldn't get it to work. I have a policy. If I cannot get it to work easily, it isn't worth the investment of my time. To be fair there appears to be a loads of help resources in the help desk. However, as a busy teacher I need to make wise decisions regarding my time. I already know how to use Poll Everywhere, Socrative, and Infuse Learning; it seems silly to invest more time in Exit Ticket when I am not sure that I would use all of their options. This product also requires that students have a username and password. I personally prefer products that feature Google integration so my students do not have to manage another username and password. This is important for me.
