How I Use It
I use this tool for my own organization and note keeping. In the classroom I use it for student portfolios. I create a shared notebook for the class, and one for each student. Students put notes, files, audio recordings, etc. into their Evernote notebooks. I put feedback in the form of audio recordings, rubrics or video. I have also used the checklist feature for student organization. Using shared notebooks, students can create work group notebooks and I can invite parents to join their students notebook.
I think showing secondary students how to use Evernote can go far in helping them organize their digital notes and learning. I have had students take all their notes in class (secondary science) on a phone using a combination of Evernote and Skitch (a drawing tool made to integrate into Evernote). It was interesting to watch. I like it for storing quick photos of student work throughout class. Evernote is a great tool in a BYOD environment because it works on virtually any platform.
