How I Use It

I have used educreations in several different ways. I have had students explain math problems, step by step. This was great because it records their writing and voice simultaneously. I have had students use the iPads to take pictures as they went through a Science experiment (like building a circuit or growing a plant), and then insert the pictures and explain each step of the process. I have also had students summarize a story using this program. We like it best when working in partners and small groups. Students found it frustrating when they made a mistake in recording after the first minute, because they had to rerecord the entire presentation. It is also limiting because I can easily display the presentation on a computer.

My Take

I love what students can create using educreations. It is so easy for students to use. First grade students are able to have a working understanding of the within ten minutes. Students are able to make presentations at their own ability level. How complex their slideshow is, is really up to them. Students are able to add pictures, text, drawings and their voice to the creation. Fabulous! This program would be so much better if students could save their progress and edit their work. Since the slideshow cannot be saved, only one person can work on a presentation at a time, and the educreations app cannot be closed, or their work will be lost. Another big limitation of the app is that the educreations cannot be exported from the app. I really wish that I could export the creations into another video program.

Educreations is a great app for having students explain and present their knowledge.
