How I Use It
As an administrator, I shared this resource to two of my Spanish teachers. The reason came about due to the need for additional support/tutoring for students in the Foreign Language classes. The teachers provided the resource to students and parents in the fall 2014 during parent-teacher conferences. Recently, i made the teachers aware of the schools version which allows for better management of their students progress. The teachers have only recently utilized this resource and we should have some valuable feedback shortly.
Duolingo does provide multi-levels of understanding and activities for a range of grade levels. The teachers truly appreciate its variety of activities, in addition to the instant feedback. I particularly like the quick -> lengthy activities; particularly as it builds on an activity, the length of the activity increases. The ability to use the it across mutiple mobile platforms such as iOS, Droid and Windows allows for easier integration into the classroom.
I feel that as the product grows, that maybe some integration of specific subject areas could be incorporated. For example, incorporating materials from US History and as the students advances, the integration of the content from a variety of sources will only lend itself to increased student learning.
