How I Use It

I use the movies to introduce my students to new content or to reinforce concepts. I have a classroom subscription which allows me to use it with my interactive whiteboard and 3 student computers. We use it as a whole group. After we watched the Transportation movie, my first graders took the online quiz together, read the joke, and did the graphing activity of how we get to school. I use the Continents and Oceans activities with second graders. Many of the activities could also be done individually with small whiteboards.

My Take

I like using the content-specific movies as a whole class activity. There are hundreds of short movies with great explanations of concepts and child-friendly animations. Each movie has an assortment of related activities including quizzes, jokes, activities, as well as drawing and writing ideas. Many can be used on student computers (if you have a school subscription) or on an interactive whiteboard or projector. Many can also be printed. Students can learn about concepts and then use a graphic organizer individually or in a group.
