How I Use It
Our school uses this app in every subject area. In the library, students from K-5 use the app to create their own books entitled "Books I Have Read". On each new page, students either photograph the cover of the book, draw an illustration from the book, or find an image online that represents the story. Students then write a review of the book explaining what the book is about and why they recommend it. Next, they record themselves reading what they wrote. Finally, students change the font and page color to their liking and add any finishing touch to each page. At the end of the school year, students have a book of the books they enjoyed reading that year. In Book Creator, we can save the book as a video or upload it into the iBooks store as an eBook that can be downloaded for free. We have also created class books entitled "Favorite Books from Grade XX ," by having each student contribute one of their reviews. We save them as videos and then post them to our library webpage.
My Take
This product is a great tool to help students record their learning and thinking. You can create comic books, import videos and products created in other apps, and develop student portfolios using the tool.
