How I Use It
Book Creator is an amazingly powerful and yet simple app that lets students showcase their work in a professional way. I often let students use it to compile work from a topic or idea and then share it with myself and the rest of the class to be peer assessed. Students love the fact that they can use a variety of different apps to interact with it, add videos, pictures and sounds to it to help explain fully what is happening in their own words. This helps me know that they can fully understand the content we are going through. I have also had students from out school in the UK and one in Finland working together to showcase what is similar and different about our cultures and education, especially with the use of technology and apps in our learning. When running courses for primary school colleagues I always show Book Creator as it is amazing for students of all abilities to be able to create something that they are proud of and interested in.
My Take
As I have stated, Book Creator is one of the best apps I use. I teach science to a wide range of abilities and ages and they all love it. Students who struggle with additional needs can use voice overs, change the colours of the pages and add photos and videos to help their understanding. Other students will accomplish excellent pieces of work with little input from me as they just want to do it themselves. The comic based screens are excellent in science for showing the steps of a practical and helping them set it out logically. If they could improve it further, perhaps more sophisticated version for older students who want to make it look that little more grown up.
