How I Use It
Bloxels is an amazing tool that lets kids create games with a purpose. I created lessons for multiple grades and subjects. Students created games centered around a Civil Rights leader. Every aspect of the game had to be representational of some aspect of that person's life. For instance the terrain could be a road for Martin Luther King Jr. and the enemies might be the police. The kids loved creating these games. The first game can take several 1 hour sessions to complete, however after the initial learning of the gaming platform, the students should be able to make another game very quickly.
I love this tool and so do my students. There were some glitches but the company is very open to solving their glitches and work hard to do so. This game is very engaging. The students needed to use problem solving skills, iteration, and trial and error to make their game the best it could be.
