How I Use It
Why use Bing when you have the 'other' search engine? Because of this app. If your considering incorporating handheld devices into practice, this app is a great entry point for both teachers and students. Searching the Internet is a basic necessity of research, and Bing allows for a variety of search methods that help learners at all levels. A camera button located in the search bar helps students use pictures to gain results. Learners can search by barcode, QR code, book, CD, DVD, or video game cover. Students can even search by snapping a photo of the text they wish to search. These functions can all be helpful in a variety of ways, from finding autobiographical information to locating images to enhance a presentation. Results can be sent to social media accounts, logged in bookmarks and even sent via text message to collaborators.
My Take
The app is easy to use and visually appealing. Learning to navigate its full list of features is also very straightforward. Parent controls or teacher accounts would make searches safer and easier to monitor.
