How I Use It
Artsona has become an integral part of my classroom. After sending Artsonia my roster, they setup my classes. Once students complete their work, they automatically use one of the ipads and photograph their work, crop, title and add to their personal portfolio. The ability to quickly view my students work, see which students have completed their work, and provide feedback is invaluable. When grading work it easily allows me to view my student’s work instead of searching through my students physical folders. Artsonia also works well to have a class discussion about student work where they can provide encouragement to each other. Finally, parents continually tell me how they appreciate the communication and ability to see and comment on their child’s artwork.
Integrating Artsonia into the art curriculum is something that I recommend to all my colleagues. Artsonia also is a great way for students to build their portfolio, view feedback, and use digital tools which satisfies state and national art standards.
Artsonia also provides a great way for me to archive and pull student work for exemplars. Managing student artwork for my 500 students has definitely become vastly easier since I began using Artsonia 7 years ago. Artsonia has continued to improve and evolve as time goes on. Some of the newer privacy laws have made the process of posting/approving work somewhat more cumbersome. As a whole, students look forward to posting their work, leaving feedback, and receiving feedback from family and friends. While I dont push Artsonia as a fundraiser for my parents, it allows them to purchase keepsakes with their child’s work where my art department receives a portion of purchases made. Through the years i have been able to purchase additional ipads to make the process even smoother. Again, Artsonia is a must have for art teachers!
