How I Use It
This app was a great tool to get reluctant writers to begin writing. It also works well to develop vocabulary skills for all levels of learners. The students who tested the app with me used it to create a collaborative story and had an absolute riot doing so. It appealed to students who were on both ends of the writing spectrum. I haven't seen students have so much fun writing and creating a shared story in quite some time. I loved the fact that users can choose words from the following vocabulary lists - elementary vocab, intermediate vocab, and SAT words. This helped to make the app accessible to all levels of learners including my ESL students. One fun way we used the tool was to talk about language and how different people perceive meaning by using the quotes. This stimulated some awesome discussion about the meaning behind words and how words are used to express oneself. Overall, we had a blast using this app and I can see many possible uses for it in the future.
My Take
This is a great tool to help students unlock literacy concepts at a variety of levels. The collaborative nature of the app gives it an element of playing a game that helps make the writing process less intimidating for students. This app can serve kids in increasing their confidence with both vocabulary and writing skills.
