How I Use It
Slice It! is definitely more of a game than a learning aid. While it has it's educational content there is no real connection to it through the gameplay. You could say that it has geometry and percents, but you really have to dig into the scoring to notice, most students just click to the next level without really reading the results. It's a good game for students to pass time, but to be honest, have them create something instead of waste their time with games!
i do not recommend this app if you are looking for educational content. There is a free and paid version (.99), the free one is ridden with those pop-up adds that you accidentally push and it takes you to the app store. I imagine the paid version does not have this. There are hints that you can use if you get stuck and it does become challenging, but students really don't find it that fun (not enough reward). My last comment on this is that it uses the word "failed" instead of "try again" or something a bit more motivating. Can't stand the use of the word failed in schools!
