How I Use It
I use it to have the students create stories. Every unit is a project for me, for example the last one was based on the game Cluedo. Students (12-13 year old) had to come up with characters and a storyline to show their motives and we used Book Creator to do that. They had free range, as long as they used the right vocabulary and verb tenses they could do whatever they wanted. They learnt how to use the app in 5 minutes and they started creating amazing things. I like the fact that since it is a library I create for them I can see in real time what they are doing and help them when they are struggling with something. It came in very handy during remote learning.
I am a language acquisition teacher and Book Creator has helped build confidence among my students. The best way to learn languages is using them but students can be very shy, especially teenagers. I use Book Creator to let them go wild with their imagination and think stories that they then need to write and narrate. Since they can do and redo until they are happy with what they present, this takes away all nerves and insecurities and students show their full potential. Of course, it can sound rehearsed and robotic but this is something you have to work with them in class. How to make sound flow and how to intonate when they speak in a foreign language.
